My firstborn leaves for college in a couple of hours.
Four hours from home.
He has gotten his first girlfriend (ever) since graduation.
Oh, he went to dances and all but...this one is special!
They had a picnic today...I helped
and had an idea about how I wanted their photos
to look.
We all recently saw Moonrise Kingdom
and suddenly I'm a Wes Anderson wannabe!
I love the look of the film.
Nobody in the entire movie smiled
(so it is odd that I can say the movie was
truly funny).
Well, we aren't all smiles here today
but I am VERY excited about my child's bright
future!
I think they two enjoyed their little picnic :)

Oh, bless your heart! It's hard to let that first one go.....well....except for me.....I shooed him out of the nest.
Awwww, Phyllis, how are you holding up? I cried all the way home after dropping off my youngest, the oldest went to a local university. I can really tell you it gets easier. They still come home for breaks and I kept the communication open by making sure I sent some really fun goodie boxes and postcards so she got mail regularly!
They are both so so sweet..and I know I would like that movie..
It isn't easy..but my wonderful aunt told me you must give them roots to grow and wings to fly~
She was right:)
All the best to him in his college!
This picture is darling....what a keeper :) Thinking of you as you let him fly from the nest! Next year is my oldests senior year...so I'm almost there!! My mom always says "You cry when they leave for college, and cry when they get married....but why??? They just come back with more people!!" lol!!
Girlfriends... college... leaving home... we knew of these prospects when having babies, but time and reality have a way of sneaking up on us! Let's console each other... I'll make a much needed getaway to Kentucky (or Tennessee... whichever border your foot is on). Perhaps some good southern friendship and cookin' and church goin' will prepare me for sending my own off to college in one more year. HUGS!!!!
My oldest just started driving! Yikes! I know college will be here before I can blink!
These are precious times :)
blessings,

Aww, how are you doing? Such a sweet young couple too!
They make an adorable couple. Times like this that bring big changes are exciting and at the same time a little bit hard. Just don't let him see you cry :-)

Those are the sweetest photos! A picnic under the trees...what could be better? How's your heart? I heard a wise mama say that every day we practice letting go of our children. Little bit by little bit. Thanks for visiting my blog today.
