Window Treatment

linking with:

with a view like this why would anybody need
pretty window treatments?
it normally is a very pretty view
all depending on rainfall which we had none of,
after the huge flood of may,
then the leaves fell off the trees and there is no color
at all outside my window now.

i haven't had anything but the pleated shades for years.
once upon a time

could it be?
(isn't that nice-looking fabric???)

why, yes it is!
wait for it...

a valance!

this was a bedskirt (half only)
which i got at goodwill for
SIX dollars.
all i did was iron it and staple it on.
the length was perfect!

now who will help me put the crystals on
this chandelier the correct way?
i have a pile of them and a map...
i can't figure it out!!!
and they need washing too.
they've been hanging here for 3 or 4 years.

Well you win the DYI prize in my book that's for sure! And thifty too. I love that you have added some color and kind of tied the windows together but didn't loose the view.

Well done Auntie B!

Thanks for asking. I'm very busy right now. And haven't made anything crafty. But I will in December. Really lovely window remodeling!

i can't beleive that's a bedskirt--you didn't have to cut or alter anything? it looks great! great recycle!

GReat ide using a bedskirt! It keeps the view but adds some color and interest. I'm terrible with maps, I would probably just put the crystals wherever I thought they should go and whatever was left over would go in a box:>)

Love it.. a girl after my own heart.. very creative.. never thought of using a bedskirt as a valance..but i love it..i have a girl friend that i saw at the fabric store,, who was very frustrated at the price of material and how much it would take to do a sliding glass door,, if you dont mind i will share your idea.. thanks..
have a blessed sunday and week to come

Hey Phyl!
Love that view out your windows but I like them even more with the bedskirt! lol How cute is that?
Great find and alter! Love the chandelier too. Don't ask me how you properly put the jewels on. I have no earthly idea. One day I hope to find a chandelier as well... been looking but so far... no find.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving day! I'm anxious to see some more of your Christmas decorating. I always love how you jazz everything up.
Have a great evening dear friend,

I've always longed for a home where I wouldn't have to have window treatments, lol! Truly. Except for at night, then I think I'd want something over them. Roman shades, maybe. Anyhow, I love your window treatment and think your idea for making it, is very clever.

What a gorgeous view outside your window (even the no-color view is pretty terrific - all that open space). And using the bed skirt as a valance is genius!

Hello over there Auntie Bliss....!

THANKS so much for stopping by & leaving a note....It IS a SWEET purse & I wish they were more readily available so I could collect them....hahahaha....Just another seet vintage 'thing' to add to my ever increasing list....!

I'm LOVING your window treatment....How CLEVER to repurpose a valance....It's a pity your lush green view has taken a beating though with the lack of rain....** sigh ** ....We know all about that down here....!

Well I must away....If you have a moment tomorrow I'd love for you to stop by again to help me celebrate....!!

Cheers from Oz,
Tamarah :o)
